A little catching up… July 23, 2006

Hi,

I’ve been doing some web work the past few weeks, and have a few family related websites for you to check out.

First is our new Genealogy website…

http://survivalring.org/annie/tree/

Annie is now using RootsMagic to work on her genealogy project. She hasn’t done much the past 4 years because of school and health, but is getting back in to it. This new site is extremely powerful, and GEDCOM files can be edited completely online, files uploaded created from genealogy programs, audio, video, pictures, etc.. It creates all the charts and timelines instantly from the current data. It can handle multiple users, multiple family trees, multiple databases. Check out the calendars, timelines, and all the cool features.. It will blow you away.

This is Annie’s blog. She is going to be writing on disabilities, family prepping, and various other things of interest. With the Adsense that Google offers and we have on this site, she’ll be making a few bucks a month (we’re making almost $100 a month now from my other websites just with this advertisting).

http://survivalring.org/gallery

This is our new photo gallery. We’ve got tons of pictures from our trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons there, as well as the hot air balloon rally we had here at the college last weekend. We can add entirely new photo sets at any time. Hopefully you’ll have a highspeed web connection. The music may take a couple of minutes to download.

This is my blog..it’s been online for over three years now…and get’s huge amounts of traffic. I’ve got more coming to this one later this month.

More to come later…thought you might like to see what we’ve been up to.

Rich and Annie

News from the family…

Hi Folks,
Yep, We’re still here. We’re almost half way thru this semester and I’ve been a little under the weather the past two weeks. I apologize for letting so much time pass without touching base with you. We had a severe cold front come thru about two weeks ago, that inflamed my hip and kept me in severe pain for the last two weeks. This weekend is the first time I finally feel human. So here’s the current news from Wyoming.

I’m finishing up my Social Science degree this semester, with one class, Microeconomics (a tough class). The other three classes I’m taking, will apply to my bachelor’s next year thru Univ. of Wyoming. I’m still working in the same lab that I have been for the last 3 years.

Richard went to Cheyenne twice over the previous two weekends to act as a camera man for the opening of the Wyoming Congress and for Vice President Cheney’s visit to the House. He was behind the camera for the long shots from the back of the House to the podium. Needless to say, he was thrilled. Richard is finishing his Web Design degree this semester and is already registered to start with Upper Iowa University in the fall. He will be earning a degree in Emergency Management. We will stay here at CWC for the time being and take classes via distance education and on campus.

Richard is running the campus radio station and will continue as long as he wants to. He recently entered 6 videos he made, with a group dedicated to drug and alcohol awareness, to the Telly awards. The one he entered last year won and the division that he earned his Broadcasting degree thru, was so impressed that they paid for all of these entries because they can claim to be an award winning program. We will hear a decision in the next few weeks. More exciting, Richard submitted his application for the All USA scholarship team and has made it into the finals. If he finishes in the top group he will receive a substantial scholarship. He has also applied for several other scholarships.

Laurie is currently working toward a Bachelor’s form University of Wyoming. She is living here but intends to move to UW campus in the fall. She is trying to decide whether to continue a Technical Theater degree or English, both of which she has A.A. in right now. This college will have 3 Fleetwood’s on its stage in this year’s graduation ceremony in May. Laurie is working on the set for the current production here at CWC, Guys and Dolls. It means lots of long hours and she is incredibly tired. She recently went to Montana for a Theater training convention and had lots of fun and learned a lot.

Robert is starting an electrician’s apprenticeship this week. If it is something he wants to continue, it will take him about 7 years to complete. His only worry is getting electrocuted. He went shopping with Candi this weekend and he picked out all of the new outfits they bought for the baby. He says they are all blue, so the baby had better be a boy! By the way, Candi is very pregnant and is sure this kid will be walking into the world. The doctor is keeping an eye on her and is considering delivering a few weeks early because the baby is so big. Anneka is growing like a weed and will be starting preschool in the fall. She turns 4 in July.

Kenny is rarely home these days. He stays busy with school, work, girlfriend and the play, Guys and Dolls. He has a lead, as Nathan Detroit. His girlfriend is in another lead as Sarah Brown, so they don’t have any scenes together. Kenny has recently made a new CD, I sent to everyone. He is constantly writing new songs and records them as he soon as he can. He has access to the recording equipment here at CWC and makes use of it. Like Richard, Kenny is very focused and motivated.

Well, the promise of warmer weather is taunting us via melting snow but there’s still a lot of snow to melt. I for one will be grateful for spring.

We keep you in our hearts and minds and hope you are all well.

Love,
Annie

Genealogy Software November 20, 2005

Found our old data on one of my external drives after a short search, (the same data that the family tree website was made from) and moved it to my laptop last night (actually way early this morning…around 4am).

We have used several Genealogy software packages over the years, including Family Tree Maker, Family Origins, PAF, and a few others. Family Origins was bought out by Genealogy.com a few years ago, and they discontinued the software, since it was a direct competitor to their OTHER package, Family Tree Maker.

Well, the folks that originally developed Family Origins, have been busy on their own, and came out with a new, greatly updated software package called RootsMagic.

I bought that this morning as well, online. Cost is only $29.95, and it will import any of the data I already have, and allow multiple screens to be open for different data sets, among other thingss….very easy to compare data sets this way.

I’ll let you know more as I start using RootsMagic, and will post more later.

Rich

Lots of work to do…

It’s been a few years since we’ve done any work on our genealogy project. I think it may have been mid to late 1999 when we were still working hard on research. We found some inroads into long lost family lines in 2000, but no major updates since then.

We’ve also gone thru several computers in the same time frame, and need to figure out where we stand data-wise. We have everything backed up on CD, but our genealogy programs are now outdated and we need to update those as well.

Lots to do…really.

BUT, we do have a goodly amount of data already online here on this site. Here are a few links to get you started on our previous genealogy.

Main page of the old site

Our Pedigree chart

Our Surname List

Our Index of Names

Our sources list (not much there yet…and old…July 2001)

I need to update the emails and mailing info on these old pages, and will get that done soon.

Thanks for your interest.

Hello Everybody!

Welcome to the Fleetwood Family site. With this site, I intend to get our family genealogy better organized. I also want to use this site to share family history of all kinds, photos, videos, and other things, including some writings from many family members, over several generations.

It should be fun, and hopefully useful.

Rich, Annie, and the youngsters…
